Development of an Energy Management Competency Framework for Facilities Managers

Background

The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) and the Facility Management Association of Australia (FMA)  required the development of an energy management competency framework to support the:

  • design of relevant components of a Diploma of Facilities Management

  • delivery of OEH-subsidised energy management training courses

  • design of in-house and industry-wide learning and development pathways for FMs

  • development of performance management frameworks

  • development of tender documentation for organisations outsourcing FM services.

Brief
  • Review existing FM competencies that have been developed by the FMA

  • Review past and present OEH training programs on energy management for FMs

  • Interview experienced FM and sustainability professionals

  • Facilitate a workshop with FM professionals to obtain end-user input

  • Develop a report and powerpoint presentation describing the framework
